The Great Seat

A man won a ticket to the Super Bowl, but when he got there, he was very disappointed. He was on the far left, at the back. He was closer to the Goodyear Blimp than he was to the field, but halfway through the first quarter he spotted the best seat in the house. He went over to the empty seat and said to the guy sitting beside it, "Is anyone sitting here?"

"No," the guy replied.

So the man sat down, and about 30 minutes later, he couldn't resist saying, "Man! This is an awesome seat! Whoever gave it up must be CRAZY!"

The guy sitting next to him replied, "Well, actually, that was supposed to be my wife's seat, but she died."

The man, feeling like dirt said, "Oh, that's awful, but couldn't you have asked a relative to come with you?"

"No", said the guy.

The man was confused, and asked, "Why not?"

The guy replied, "Because they're all at the funeral."

Shamus and O'malley were golfing at their favorite course which happened to sit side by side to a cemetery. It was a very peaceful hole to play and just as O'malley was ready to take his swing, a funeral courtage passed by and Shamus took off his hat, placed it over his heart and bowed his head.

O'malley was overcome with confusion over this. They had played the course for 30 years and had seen many funerals pass by but this was the first time Shamus ever did anything of the sort. Checking the score he saw that he was leading so he assumed Shamus was trying to distract him.

"Shamus what is your problem today", he asked. "Are you pulling something funny here?"

"No, O'malley, as that hearse passed by I thought how fleeting life was and I was emotional for a moment. Then I realized how much I loved my wife and what she put up with so I could come here every weekend and play golf with you. How many passed of those have passed us by and we never gave them a second thought, have we?"

"Well, Shamus we were playing this course long before you were married to that woman and I guess for all your faults, I'd say you were devoted to her all in all. But now after all this time you pick NOW to get this way-I don't understand".

"You're right O'malley. I thought the same thing and I figured after all this time she was entitled to a few more moments from me."
